countgregor : A very interesting list of the nobles and royals of the Holy Roman Empire.
This site was developed by a controversial character and he and his staff seem to be always troubled by the current and active present day royals and nobles. Many names on the roll of honor are current monarchs. This listing of names makes The Imperial College and Counsel of Princes and Counts more of a elite club than a government. It was rumored that the titles were for sale at some point, however that does not now appear to be the case. Donations can be made in any amount, and since the site is quite beautiful, and has a generous amount of history involved, it does not seem that donations to continue the work is not unreasonable. Many on the list are the survivors of families that lost their titles when Germany surrendered in 1918 and the aristocracy was disbanded when Germany became a republic in 1919. This list helps keeps track of the old nobles who were mostly under the rule of the Hapsburg Dynasty, which lost out big time with the surrender of the Central Powers of WW I. It seems the only one's complaining about this clubs existence are those non nobles that are experts at all the royal lines, and have books that are already published, and I often wonder why they wish to exclude families that also helped bring Western Europe out of the Dark Ages and progress Europe into what we now have known as the European Union. It seems so odd they continue to be zealots to try to stop this club cold. I am not sure of their motives, but it is time to move on and give some respect back to families that gave hundreds of years of service to the Holy Roman Empire. After all are we looking or history or are we willingly trying to change history by excluding some of those who brought such great change.
