About: PoaPay.com money transfer service, Send money to Kenya, transfer money to Kenya, wire money to Kenya, online remittance, cheaper than western union, Kenya service, merchant accounts in Kenya, credit card transfer, direct debit, check payment, secure - THEY ARE A FRAUD. THEY TOOK MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION YESTERDAY AND THEN USED IT TO SEND MONEY ON MONEYGRAM! BEWARE!!!!
Yesterday I attempted to use PoaPay.com to send my fiancee who is visiting Kenya some money, to her phone. I have not used the credit card I gave PoaPay anywhere else, especially not that day. Yet after attempting to give them my credit card information, I was told that I would have to fill out a form and send photocopies of my credit card and Driver's License to them. The next thing I know (even before sending them any of the documents) I had billed to my account MANY MoneyGram transaction with the very same card. They had attempted to get $600-$900 from my credit card each attempt, total of about $2700. Don't use this site! Fraud!!!!!
I have used PoaPay for over 10 years and have never lost a penny. They are very strict in the way they do business and you have to verify yourselves. All my family uses it and we have never had a complain.
I dont know which poapay site, the first reviewer is refering to. This guys are very secure and accurate. They protect the privacy and security of their customers. I attempted to send money while outside US, they held my transaction untill i verified that i was actually the one sending the money because the internet i was using had an external IP address. I was happy with those steps. I have used them and i will use them.Customer service to resolve a descrepancy is awesome and prompt. Thanks poapay
i attempted to also send money via my checking to kenya and was later advised that i needed to send a copy of my drivers license and a voided check for verification since this was the first time sending though them, later when i declined i was told to use my debit card which required no such verification but was charged a 3% surcharge. One day later there was two attempts by western union to deduct money from my checking accounts. A guy that answered the phone somewhere in alabama a 205 area code named stanley probably can help us! i informed cyber crime police but my advise to anyone is to stay away from poapay.com, i believe is a group of thugs masquarading as genuine money transfer people. be warned. the money i sent to kenya was received by the way but they have your info to steal i had to change all of my particulars!
The company offers an excellent service in terms of ensuring money arrives and is dispatched through Mobile Mpesa-ATM,transfers and other wired, pay pal banking facilities. There has been problems in the past because they were not able to cope with the demand and supply schedules, but now with the broadband internet ,internet technologies, and security systems put in place they are better place.I would give security to any person using their website or offices since the group involved are very well known to me and is run by very professional and royal unsophisticated staff, though its top level management are highly educated professionals.
i sent money thru this site and was delivered to the recipient without me calling to advise them of the reference number as is custom, while is okey because that was the intent i found it rather odd and a blatant breach of security and i will not use the site again. western union and moneygram folks is th way to go. all these guys writing reviews and rating the site very highly probably are scamsters working in cahoots with these cyber criminals. your days are numbered, get a life instead of stealing from innocent people, kenya is beggining to look alot like nigeria.
I have send and received money both in US and Kenya using poapay for 5+ yrs and I have never been disappointed with their services. When I opened poapay account and sent money for the first time, I was requested to send a void check and my ID. At first it seemed weird but then again its a money business and for my own protection and for them to know that I am not a fraud I did it. Of course with a little hesitant but then again, anywhere you open an account, you do have to provide some form of identification for authentic reasons. Money is delivered the way I want it.The direct deposit at no cost makes it an even better choice for me. It really make work easier for some of us who need to have a standing order with a bank in Kenya to repay HELB loan. All I do is send money while am here abroad, they deposit into my bank account and I never have to worry about missing my monthly payment to HELB!. Also the MPSA option, now my mom back in the village can get the money the following day!
I couldn't do it any other way.
Oooh, did I forget to mention : their exchange rates are always better compared to money gram and western union!...
Poapay is the way to go!
I have used poapay to send money for over 5years and have never lost a dime. Its safe trustworthy and very effective.
For the one who said Poapay is froud and your card was stolen, you might want to check the security of your computer. It would be damn and stupid for a well respected company like poapy to use your card to send money using their competitors. I used poa pay to send money to Kenya a few months ago. They asked for a copy of my credit card and ID. They did send the money to Kenya, but over the next months, several attempts have been made to use my credit card to purchase gift cards and someone has attempted to break into my email account. They were successful in stealing $160.00 dollars from my checking account via an ATM withdrawal. I had to change all my accounts/details. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. THEY ARE CROOKS!
I have used PoaPay since year 2000 and have never lost a Penny. My sister and mother have also used the service and i have never heard them complain. Anyone saying negative things about the company may only be a crock or competitor.
apina85 : The best thing to ever happen to kenyans abroad!!
I have been using poapay now six months. Without any favoritism i can confirm that it's never let me down in anyway. That being said,i can not fail to let people know that I was just like the rest very skeptical about it,(poapay) during my initial use coz they requested very sensitive information about me which i hesitated to give.
Since then,my service with them has been wonderful. My fellow Kenyans,we have been taken advantage of in past and let not be fearful about technological advancement coz they're only here to build us.
I have been using poapay the last six months and I too, was skeptical after reading some of the reviews but I decided to give them the benefit of doubt. So far, I have sent money to my bank account in Kenya, to relatives MPESA accounts, and paid school fees through them and I have nothing to complain about. One time I even put the wrong phone number when sending money to MPESA and they did not deliver it without confirming with me because the name of the reciever did not match the name registered on the mpesa, I was really impresssed !!
I always check and their exchange rates are comparable to moneygram and western union.
The only negative so far is that there is no option for faster delivery..but usually takes no more than 3 days..I will not give my money to anyone else when there are kenyans doing such a great job!!! I love not worrying about sending money to a relative to go pay stuff for me. I'm just surprised I had not heard of them a long time ago!
mengster: same thing happened to me today I wish I had seen your review, they took my information hacked my money gram acc. and tried to send money oversees! I am a Kenyan and I am in for supporting other Kenyans trying to do some here but this S@#$ almost gave a heart attack after I see how much money they were trying to send oversees. Kenyans Beware!
I have always been suspicious when using poapay as a means of sending money in Kenya. Its run by individuals out to enrich themselves and they don't care who they hurt on the way. I do not understand how they would deposit money to the recipient back in Kenya then claim that you did not have sufficient funds in you account. They ought to debit the said account first before proceeding to deposit money to recipient and then blocking the senders account for insufficient funds. There many modes of wiring money back in Kenya and I would highly not recommend Poapay as one of them.
